Sosei Aikido Kyokai Instructors Seminar 2012

Friday thru Sunday, October 5th, 6th and 7th.

Friday October 5th:
Training will be held at A Center for the Martial Arts / Soseikan Dojo 6856 West 111th Street Worth, Illinois 60482, phone: 708-448-2454. Registration begins at 12 PM and the training day will begin at 1 PM.

Saturday October 6th:
Training will take place at Shugyo Cultural Center / Onshinkan Dojo 1579 East 91st Drive Merrillville, IN. 46410, phone: 219-736-7854. Registration begins at 8 AM and the training day will begin at 9 AM. There will also be a Kyokai Kyu Exam at 4:30 pm.

Sunday October 7th:
Training will be held at Shugyo Cultural Center / Onshinkan Dojo 1579 East 91st Drive Merrillville, IN. 46410, phone: 219-736-7854. Registration begins at 8 AM and the training day will begin at 9 AM.

The Instructors Seminar Fee is 70.00

Fall For Toyoda – Kangeiko 2012

Shugyo Cultural Center – Onshinkan Dojo will host “Fall for Toyoda – Kangeiko Winter Training”. Kangeiko translates to “lessons in the cold”.
This event was a two day event held at Onshinkan Dojo. This event was open to all arts, organizations and levels.
Together, Fall for Toyoda seminar (January) and Footsteps of Shihan seminar (June) cost only $95. Please try to attend at least part of both seminars – they are great experiences!
The seminar was lead by the Dojo Cho of the schools of Sosei Aikido Kyokai:

On the weekend of Friday, September 16th through Sunday, September 18th, Aikido of Northern Indiana will be honored to welcome guest instructor Hiroshi Tajiri Sensei, Godan.

A 6th dan, shihandai, Tajiri-Sensei has been practicing Aikido for over 30 years. He began practicing Aikido at the age of 17 at the Seibukan Budo Dojo in Kyoto Japan. Tajiri-sensei moved to Chicago in 1973 and became an uchideshi (live-in student) of Fumio Toyoda-shihan (then the chief instructor of the Chicago Ki Society). He continued to study under Toyoda-shihan till his death in 2001 and remains a loyal student to this day.

Tajiri-Sensei is an enthusiastic promoter of Aikido. He enjoys sharing his art with students all over the world. He can be found teaching seminars in Europe and the United States. Sensei is also a certified self-defense instructor and teaches law-enforcement personnel, including members of the North Carolina Highway Patrol, police department and correction department. He is also accomplished in iaido, judo and practices Zen meditation.

2011 Women’s Aikido Seminar

Aikido On Saturday, April 16th and Sunday, April 17th, Tokushinkan Dojo will be hosting the 2011 Women’s Aikido Seminar.

Ladies, please join us!
This is a seminar taught by women, for women – instructed by Sensei Dianne Costanzo, Dojo Cho of Tokushinkan Dojo and Sensei Elisabeth Menning, Dojo Cho of Onshinkan Dojo.
Along with Aikido special sessions will be held on Pilates (Sat.) and Meditation (Sun.)

Saturday 9AM-Noon, 1PM-4PM (with Sosei Aikido Kyokai’s kyu testing at 4:30PM)
Sunday: 10AM-1PM, 2PM-5PM
Please bring a lunch both days as lunch breaks are short.

Cost will be $65 for the whole seminar.

Third Annual Sosei Aikido Kyokai Seminar at Whitewater – Review

Warhawks Aikido On Saturday March 12th 2011, Whitewater Aikido Club hosted their Third Annual Sosei Aikido Kyokai Seminar, taught by the Dojo-Cho of Sosei Aikido Kyokai.
This event took place at University of Wisconsin, Whitewater in the Williams Center Wrestling Gym.
One session of this seminar was dedicated to Iaido (Samurai Swordsmanship) training while another focused on 31-count Jo kata. To quote the flyer, “Don’t miss this once-a-year opportunity to train with some of the best Aikido Instructors in the Midwest”.
Times were 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. followed by a group dinner.
The event was attended by many established Aikido instructors, students, as well as interested guests.

Tajiri Sensei Seminar – Review

On the weekend of Friday, November 12th through Sunday, November 14th, Soseikan Dojo was honored to welcome guest instructor Hiroshi Tajiri Sensei, Godan. As the latest event in a seminar series by the students of Fumio Toyoda Shihan, known as “In the Foot Steps of Shihan”, Tajiri Sensei taught Shodo (Japanese calligraphy) in addition to Aikido, with examples and exercises in kanji and hiragana.
